It operates 1,503 stores in 48 states and District of Columbia, under Dressbarn, Dressbarn Woman, and Maurices brand names. The company offers Casual clothing, career wear, leather and outerwear, dresses, suits, woven tops, jewelry, and accessories.
In quarter ended April 2009, Dress Barn posted a profit of 39 cents a share, exceeding markets expectations by 25.8% after disappointing the market in its prior quarter by 300%. Market is expecting a profit of 37 cents per share for the quarter ended July 2009, which is 3 cents above its actual profit it posted in the same quarter a year ago.
DBRN is in my BUY watch list for short term trading. Earnings for the 4th quarter ended July 2009, is scheduled to be released on Wednesday September 16, 2009 at 4:30 PM Eastern.
Fedex Corporation, (FDX): Founded in 1971 and headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Fedex Corporation provides shipping services in the United States and world wide.
On Friday, September 11, 2009, Fedex offered a signal that the global economy is improving, as it raised its first-quarter earnings forecast on better-than expected international shipments and cost cuts. The company said it expects earnings of 58 cents per share for the first quarter ended August 31, 2009, down 53% from a year ago, but above its previous prediction of 30 cents to 45 cents per share.
Market is expecting a profit of 49 cents per share for the quarter ended August 2009, which is 74 cents less than its actual profit it posted a year ago in the same quarter.
FDX is in my BUY watch list for short term trading. Earnings for the quarter ended August 2009, is scheduled to be released on Thursday, September 17, 2009, before market open.
